Disability Response Contact information: 1-800-390-2699 (Voice) 1-800-900-0706 (TTY) In the aftermath of this last week’s devastating wildfires in Southern California, the immediate needs of persons with disabilities cannot be understated. Hundreds of thousands of people were displaced in the largest evacuation in California history with over 20,000 people taking refuge in more than 50 shelters. From the Ranch fire in Los Angeles County to the Harris fire in San Diego County, 15 fires have taken seven lives, destroyed close to 2,000 homes, and burned over a half million acres.
In partnership with the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers the AT Network is helping coordinate information, referrals and resources to those who may have lost essential durable medical equipment and assistive technology in the wildfires. This includes wheelchairs, beds, walkers, communication devices, hearing aids, equipment use by people who are blind, Internet access, medical monitors, and a wide range of aids for daily living.
We encourage your support by staying informed and being aware of those in need. If you know of a resource, please contact us and we will post it on the website: 1-800-390-2699 or 1-800-900-0706 TTY or e-mail at relief@atnet.org.
Please note: Assistance efforts and resources are changing on a daily basis. Be sure to visit this website often for the most current listings.
The AT Network is dedicated to protecting the rights of our consumers and allowing them to remain independent in the community. If you have a question, concern, or a story to share with us then please don't hesitate to contact us:
