Alternative Financing Program

The AT Network administers an alternative financing program to provide low cost loans to Californians, regardless of age, for the purchase of modified vehicles, ramps, computers, communication devices and other assistive technology devices to live more independently or to engage in employment.  Loans are guaranteed by a state supported fund in the Department of Rehabilitation. 

Consumers are eligible for loans of $1,000 to $50,000 if their household income does not exceed the level prescribed for moderate-income families by the U.S. Department of Housing and Community Development (pursuant to Section 50093 of the Health and Safety Code) and applicants can demonstrate their ability to repay the loan. 

To Apply

  • Download the Application Packet (below)
  • Complete and return the application to the AT Network.
  • AT Network staff will review the application for completeness and contact applicants if additional information or corrections are needed.
  • A loan committee will review the application.  Approved applications will be forward to a participating lender for funding.  Applicants that are not approved will be notified by mail.
  • The lender will review the application and, if approved, process and fund the loan.
  • The applicant will be notified and work with the lender  to complete funding of the loan and purchase of the assistive technology device or modified vehicle.
  • Upon completion of the financing and purchase the applicant will complete a customer satisfaction survey consisting for four questions and fax or mail their anonymous response to the AT Network.
